Within the needlessly complicated script and CGI special-effects overkill, there are some promising moments.. Beautiful Creatures tries terribly hard to establish its own mythology of magic and witchcraft and Southern-fried adolescent angst.. If only we could hope that Beautiful Creatures would stick to a single film or a maximum of one sequel, before its modest charms wear out..
